Real-world range depends heavily on terrain: expect roughly 1–3 miles in a city with buildings around you, 3–10 miles in open suburban or rural areas, and significantly farther — 10–30+ miles — if you're using a repeater or transmitting from elevated ground.

Yes. Two-way radios communicate by frequency, not by brand — as long as another radio (Baofeng or otherwise) is set to the same frequency and tone settings as yours, it'll be able to talk to this set.
